Odd situation, front door was locked, so we had to enter via the back door thru the bar. We needed to sit in the dining room because our underage daughter was with us. We sat ourselves. Two females in the dining area, one was obviously an employee, and another could have passed as a customer but definitely was comfortable enough to clean tables for the employee who was too busy counting money. In fact she was so busy, she couldn't bring us menus, answer questions like "are you open?", or even look up when other customers came in.Service got way better after the man from the bar and a man from the kitchen came out to use their customer service skills! Food was delicious. For the customers who came and left (either confused by the front door, or upset by being ignored by the female employee), they missed out on some good food!
Nice food , nice attention! I recommend this place
Has gone downhill in the past year. A good waitress can do just so much
Great food their chowder is in tot 3 chowder on any others up and down the coast
We were visiting Pacific city, cape kiwanda. there were 3 kids in our group and we couldn't stand in long que in the nearby restaurants. we detoured from 101 about 4miles distance,a and we found DORY. . It is a fast food restaurant with bar. I remember this place because of their "Veggie Chicken burger "😝😜😝😜Food is ok, our server was very sweet and patient. It's less crowded, so you don't need to wait in long line like other restaurants in Pacific city. Kid friendly restaurant. Limited parking.
Best small-town, old-fashioned, greasy spoon for at least 30 miles! Greasy, cheap, wonderful goodness and small-town feel. A favorite of mine for breakfast.
Food and service was awful. The french fries were the best part of the meal, chicken and Cod were both super chewy almost like rubber. Chowder had good flavor but was barley warm and the crackers served with it were stale. Our server only came to our table to take our order and bring our food and check and never came back to check on us. Honestly would have left without paying for what we did eat if it wasn't against the law.
Been a few times, food has always been good, as the service. It's the last stop to fill the thermos before going out on the river, or the first place after to get hot food, before driving home. If its not too loud or crowded views are better out the back of the lounge.
They were out of everything on a Thurs at noon? No fish of any kind. Basically hamburgers n such. The waitress had to be prompted to give us more water. The only reason for 2 stars is the parking lot was big enough for our rv. Would not go back.
Large portions. My daughter and I were able to split an omelet a s had plenty to eat. Prices are VERY reasonable. Our server (wish I could remember her name) waa very attentive and friendly and knowledgeable about local events.
Mixed review on this one. Nice staff & family place but odd policy about when the restaurant is open vs the bar. Very confusing. Food quality was also mixed. Chicken strips, cod fillets, and shrimp were all delicious. Clam chowder also pretty tasty. Clam strips were burnt & chewy however, and the oysters didn't taste fresh.
Shared today's Philly Cheesecake Omelette special with my wife. Excellent food served on COLD PLATES. When will restaurants ever learn that warmed plates and hot coffee cups make a huge improvement in the dining experience with little extra effort on their part. Service was very good but I am reluctant to return for a cold-plate meal.
Great place to try clean and a good meal with descent prices, waitresses are pleasant and helpful.
Food was meh. Salad was gross. They do not take cash, and their ATM charges a $5.00 fee. I wouldn't have left such a scathing review, except I see how high their ATM fees were and I am angry. They should just charge the customer the 2% credit card transaction fee. $5.00 is robbery. I will never eat here again....
Food was great. But the service was slow. The server looked irritated. No credit cards, so not all that helpful while paying for a big family that we went with.
This was once our favorite breakfast restaurant, now it is a mere shadowits former glory. The biscuits were sour and the gravy was like wallpaper paste. We ordered eggs over medium but we got eggs barely over easy. The toast was not toasted, the hashbrowns were not brown. The coffee was like warm and they only had one server. Poor thing tried hard, but she was clearly under trained and overwhelmed.
The staff is very friendly, the cook was lovely and the food was delicious. Geri the cook made a Mickey mouse pancake for my two year old and the owner let him play with some toys after we were done eating. Food was to delicious to get pictures of but the price is just right for the portions and it tastes great too.
Pizza was pretty basic and not great, but we had a great experience. Very nice staff and neat atmosphere.
Best burger we've had on our vacation
Fish and chips - freshly battered? In the factory maybe. Sorry, was really bad.
Meh...... So first off the actual restaurant was closed for remodel, which is understandable, and so we had to eat in the lounge, again that was O.K. However, there was only my wife and I and another group of four eating, (the rest were bar patrons) and yet the wait for food was 45 minutes!!!!! Chicken fried steak was good and the fries were good, but that wait was not cool at all!!! Then, if we hadn't noticed it on the menu and asked.... Yep - no cards AT ALL (Debit or Credit)!!!!! Good thing we had cash or you have to be willing to fork over a LARGE ATM fee to get cash..... I'd say take a pass and go on to the next town.
The food was nasty, the so called jo-Jo's were soggy and tasted like the were cooked in old oil. I asked for oyster stew and was brought fried oysters. They were ok, but the side Cole slaw and fries were not edible. The bottle of Budweiser was the best thing there. I would save your money and your stomach and stay out of there.Steve
Full of twerkers food taste stal
The fish sandwich was very small fish. the french fries were reheated the bathroom was disgusting. the food was overpriced for what you got. Clam chowder was good.
Giant scrumptious pancakes amazing thick bacon and eggs cooked to perfection! Best mom and pop restaurant and prices I've seen on the coast!!
I have been to this restaurant only twice and both times both me and the person I was with were treated like royalty! The people who were working were different each time, however both times we were given 5 star quality service and the food was delicious. I wish I knew the names of the waitress and cooking staff that served me today (January 9th) to personally thank them for a wonderful meal and wonderful experience overall! Thank you!!
Good place to eat at
Food is just that, Food. Cash only, no Debit or Credit cards allowed. They do have an ATM but it has a 3.00 charge.. service is great and very friendly. It's about a 5 on cleanliness, no soap or paper towels or air dryer in the men's bathroom... water works and napkins from the first table you come to..would I go again ? Prolly not.
Their Shepherd pie is impressive...breakfast always awesome. Friendly service. Bar and local bands!!
We arrived and the door was locked. A gentleman let us in. Shortly after a couple came in and a waitress was telling them that the bar has seating and was pressuring them to go to the lounge. Then the staff locked the door so that no one would come into the restaurant side. We had okay service. Food wasn’t the best. An old lady in a booth near the kitchen kept talking about money and the employees. I assume she is the owner. The wait staff was talking about tips. Super unprofessional to be discussing money with customers there. I don’t understand why a restaurant would have a door locked for families that would like to have a meal together, especially when money was the only this the old lady talked about. We will not be returning.
had cheeseburger and fries, huge, good, taste homemade... very friendly service, will definitely eat here again. Also beautiful stream running outside lounge window
A restaurant with a bar. A pretty decent place to grab a bite and Look out at the River or play some pool, more like a restaurant.
Great food, nice view and friendly service
food was good. Service was really bad.
Hubby and I were just taking a long drive, were hungry ended up in Cloverdale. Chose this place. Almost empty, wait staff were trashy looking. Guy who took our order was sarcastic, was also the cook. We ordered a fried chicken plate to share. Almost 45 minutes the food comes. Chicken,a wing, tiny drum, thigh and...a freaking BACK portion! was horribly under cooked! Waitress took it back,15 minutes longer she comes back with CREAMATED chicken! After a few minutes, thoroughly disgusted,we left without barely eating anything!Just another low class, local yokle greasy spoon joint.STAY AWAY!
Quirky little restaurant in a weird town. The food was solid with a fine selection of beer, if you really like Hamms.
Great breakfast, friendly service, plan to return.
Eclectic. Friendly staff. The waitress wasn't there the moment I arrived so the cook gave me suggestions off the menu and took my order. Good diner food.
This was a lovely, small restaurant in Oregon. The food was good (I had fish and chips) and the service was great.
Driving after dark during an absolute downpour, this was the first open eatery I found in over an hour. Went in just to rest a bit, but the coffee and whatever dessert I got were like manna from heaven. The waitress was great, and friendly, and they kept the place open late for just for me - the sole customer. That was 20+ years ago, but ever since then I stop in for their meals every time I pass thru this part of Oregon. May be new owners but the Dory is my one "must see" when traveling OR 101.
Great local place, fries made from real potatoes and a great burger. Will return.
Staff was a number one the man that was cooking was. A real hoot and his food is to die for drinks are. Amazing must have the clam chowder never had it like this chowder. I give it a 10our of 10 we will go back if even close
Holy cow this has amazing food. Best burger I have had in years
A real classic restaurant.
Beautiful View, from Bar only. Good food.
I was a little hesitant with all the negative reviews, but the food was awesome, the service was fabulous. Loved the view from the lounge. The owner gave us each a free cup of the chowder, stated it was his grandmother's recipe and it was really good and fresh. We both had the burgers and fries and couldn't finish our meal. We will definitely be back.
Great service and great food. We had a wonderful waitress!
The owner kept the place open late just so I could finish work and get a good dinner and excellent chowder
Fat undercooked Fries, waiting > hour, dirty toilets. Not everything on the menu is available. We ordered a hotdog for my sun. After 30min the waitress asked if it was a problem the hotdog was cut open. We don’t, but after another 30min we got a fat permeated corndog without any remark it wasn’t a hotdog. We (7 people) left the place nauseous. No go area all.
